Treatment It was only around 1960 that children born with spina bifida began to survive childhood. Today, thanks to medical technology, the rate of survival surpasses 85%. It is thus that in the 1990s, the first generation of adults with spina bifida has entered society. Spina bifida requires systematic medical follow-up. Treatment of the varying forms of spina bifida include(????????) therapy, surgery, medication, and use of technical aids. In Quebec there are several specialised clinics, mostly paediatric.
