HEALTH NEWS

Medical Research is progressing at a rapid pace. In the space of a year, it is not unusual to note several technical innovations, and advances in surgery, therapy, and medication used to help people with spina bifida.

On another front, Genetic Research is a fast-growing field, which helps us understand the causes of spina bifida and other neural tube defects. Finally, more and more statistics are being compiled to help the public understand about prevention.

Recently, there have been some extremely dramatic developments in the area of foetal surgery. And a new ergonomic brace has been devised to correct scoliosis, a problem common to spina bifida patients. New advice about herbal remedies for chronic urinary tract infection is now available. All these, and other ground-breaking news items concerning spina bifida are made available in our bulletin The Spinnaker, published four times a year.

Our Association is on the lookout for any new medical breakthrough of interest to our members. We are committed to publishing these findings in our Spinnaker, soon available in abridged form on this web site.
